There I was shocked that all people knew
about my son’s condition except me. I knew about
the martyrdom of Oday, and that Tareq was injured
and was in a serious condition. God help my son
Tareq, accept my son Oday, and help me bear the
burden.
24. Testimony of Awatef Al- Basyouni , Mother
of martyr Faris:1
My children slept in their bedroom. Around
11:00 pm, my husband and I were watching TV
when suddenly a huge explosion nearby shook
the house, the glass of the windows broke, and
electricity immediately went off.
I stood up quickly to see what happened
when my husband stopped me saying, ‘Wait! You’ve
to wear your slippers! Glass is all over the place!’ I
did not stop, though! All I was thinking of was my
children! Something bad could happen to them!
Following me carrying a torch, my husband
came with me to our kid’s where our daughter was
weeping saying, ‘my brother is killed! Faris is a
martyr!’ My husband ran quickly towards Faris and
when he held him, he could not handle what he saw!
I knew what Diana said was true. I
remember how my husband collapsed seeing Faris’s
head apart and his brain scattered on the wall!
My husband rushed outside the house
and started screaming, ‘help me Naji! Help me
brother! Help us, people! Help! Help! Ambulance!’
