Around 2:40 pm, an Israeli warplane fired a
missile at a group of civilians who were going to
the mosque to performAser Prayer in Al-Sheikh
Ejleen area, southwest Gaza city. That attack
resulted in the martyrdom of Jouda Shamalkh,

7. Testimony of Ghazala Shamalkh, Mother of
Martyr Jouda:1
I finished preparing lunch when my son
started eating quickly as if he got something urgent
to do. He told me he was going out to the mosque.
I kissed him goodbye then he left. Minutes later, I
heard a massive explosion and felt something in my
heart! ‘My son! My son!’ I screamed.
I ran very fast calling for an ambulance.
I knew my son’s injury was not too serious that I
could help him. It was only a fragment. My son and
I arrived to the hospital. I was full of hope that I did
not think, not for a moment, about losing him!
A few days later, Jouda arrived home. He
was dead. When they brought him, I could not help
crying. What made it harder on me was that my son
and his wife did not have kids for 8 years. This year,
she got pregnant. He passed away when his wife
was still on the 7th month of pregnancy. God help
her bear the burden of pain and giving birth. May
Allah grant us patience, Amen.
