Israel Kills
1986, and Resolution 605 of 22 December 1987.
Such Resolutions were in response to the arbitrary
measures Israeli occupation authorities took against
Palestinians. The Security Council paid much
attention to the issue of the safety and protection of
Palestinians in the occupied territories.
However, the Israeli occupation authorities
refused to apply the convention citing invalid
justifications, claiming that the Palestinian territories
were occupied in a defensive war, while the Geneva
Convention states that the land should be occupied
in offensive war.
Israel still violates and will continue to
violate international human rights law, challenging
human rights norms and ignoring allUNResolutions.
While international community is indulgent to
Israeli arrogant policies, Israel exploits the global
sympathy and makes the world serve its aggressive
aims.
Thus, making Israel respect international
law, especially when talking about respecting
human rights, and providing protection to civilian
population, could be achieved by imposing different
kinds of pressure:
1. Economicpressure:imposingtrade and financial
sanctions;
2. Political pressure: making sure the Israeli
occupation ends, so that Palestinians› right to
self-determination is fulfilled;
3. And activating UN human rights mechanisms,
and other mechanisms to expose Israel›s
policies in the occupied territories, and exposing
its violations to the public.
